Welcome to the Wick-Zen way of life, where every flicker, every scent, and every jar brings a little extra joy to your space.
Our candles are carefully hand-poured and we use only the best, natural ingredients and fragrance oils for a long-lasting burn and room-filling scent.
If you’re like us, you’ll want to extend your candle’s life and keep the good vibes going for as long as possible.
So let's dive into some simple tips and tricks to help you get the most of your candle, from first light to last.
For starters, we recommend keeping your candle away from direct sunlight and keeping it covered, this will help extend it's fragrance. What's especially important is to burn your candle safely, so please follow these guidelines.
1. The First Burn: Set the Foundation
Your candle remembers its first burn. So, for that very first light, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar—usually about two hours. This creates an even “memory” pool and prevents tunnelling, giving you an even burn each time you light your candle.
2. Keep Your Wick Trimmed
A happy wick is a trimmed wick! Before each burn, trim your wick to about 1/4". This keeps the flame steady, minimises smoke, and helps your candle last longer. A quick trim means less soot and more glow—just what you want! Use scissors, wick trimmers or even a tissue to snip off the top.
3. Don’t overdo it
We know it’s tempting to keep that cozy vibe going all day, but try to limit each burn to around 3-4 hours. Longer burns can cause the wick to mushroom, which leads to a bigger flame (and a faster burn-through). So, take it slow and wait for your candle to cool between burns before touching or moving it.
4. A candle in the wind is a no-no
Candles love still. Keep your candle away from draughts, open windows, or fans. Not only will this keep the flame steady, but it’ll also keep your wax melting evenly, which means more hours of candlelit bliss.
5. Reuse and reimagine
Stop burning when 10mm of wax remains. Don’t let that beautiful jar go to waste. Wick-Zen jars are easy to clean and perfect for a second life as a planter, pencil holder, or anything else you can dream up. Pop it in the oven on a low heat or add boiling water to easily remove left over wax—and voila your jar is ready for its new life.
